Leading LA post house meets new challenges in 'Alejandro' with Quantel
Newbury, UK,July 2010: Los Angeles full service post house STEELE studios' new Quantel Pablo and iQ have been put to the test again on the new Lady Gaga mini-featurette 'Alejandro', immediately after completing Shakira's 'Waka Waka' World Cup video in Stereo3D. The nine minute masterpiece was shot by renowned Director and Photographer Steven Klein and features many highly stylized environments reminiscent of Apple's iconic big brother commercial of the nineteen eighties.
"As seems increasingly normal in this age of brutal timetables and vanishing budgets, we were asked to complete what may have seemed like an inordinate amount of rotoscoping, color correction, FX compositing, beauty and titling in an impossibly short time," said STEELE Executive Producer, Jo Steele. "But with the use of the Quantel Pablo and iQ, the whole job was finished within the timeframe and under budget.
"The whole look of 'Alejandro' is super-surreal and stylised. Steven Klein had a vision and message in how he shot 'Alejandro' and brought with him very clear expectations of what needed to be achieved in post. It was, without a shadow of doubt, only possible for us to satisfy him because we have the Quantel systems," Steele adds.
Monique Eissing, who headed up the STEELE Post team of a dozen artists, said, "The beauty of the Quantel systems is their versatility and speed, their ability to share the project and media seamlessly with other boxes, and that they can take on any challenge that may arise, especially on extremely tight schedules."
