Hitachi Kokusai Electric joins the Nisshinbo Group and announces corporate rebranding

HitachiRebrandingCVE, Communication Video Engineering is pleased to announce that the brand it represents, Hitachi Kokusai Electric, Inc., has joined the Nisshinbo Group as of 27 December 2024.

This follows the acquisition of 80% of the company's shares by Nisshinbo, while Hitachi, Ltd. will continue to hold the remaining 20% of the company.

The Nisshinbo Group includes several technology companies with related and complementary expertise, including Japan Radio Company and Nisshinbo Micro Devices.

More information about the group is available at the following link: Nisshinbo Group.

A new chapter: rebranding and new company name

Following this change, as of 27 December 2024, the company has initiated an official rebranding with the introduction of a new name and logo.

What has changed:

• The parent company in Japan, Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc., has become KOKUSAI DENKI Electric Inc.

• The European subsidiary, Hitachi Kokusai Electric Europe GmbH, takes the name KOKUSAI DENKI Electric Europe GmbH.

• All products branded Hitachi Kokusai Electric will bear the new logo and company name.

This move marks a return to the origins: “KOKUSAI DENKI” was indeed the original name with which the company was founded in Japan in 1949.

The rebranding represents a strategic evolution, maintaining the quality and innovation that have always distinguished the company, now strengthened by joining the Nisshinbo Group.

CVElogoCVE CEO Luca Catalano comments:

“The logo change does not involve any technical modifications to the products, production, or research and development of our historic partner. On the contrary, it could represent an even stronger push towards the media sector, potentially superior to that recorded when HITACHI was the main shareholder.

Kokusai Denki cameras have enjoyed an excellent reputation for years both internationally and in the Italian market. Therefore, I am confident that this new corporate structure can further consolidate and strengthen our presence in the broadcast sector in Italy.

For further information, I and the CVE team remain at your disposal”.

Two of the most appreciated products of the well-known Hitachi, which, as seen, will be called KOKUSAI DENKI from today, are the UHD-4K broadcast production television cameras, model SK-UHD7000 and Z-HD6500.

UHD7000UHD-4K Camera SK-UHD7000

The UHD SK-UHD7000 camera for next-generation 4K Ultra HD broadcast and live production from KOKUSAI DENKI is the flagship model.

It is a compact and unified frame, lightweight, with the best price-performance ratio thanks to an original high-tech design.

It incorporates three 9MPixel CMOS image sensors with a 2/3” global shutter.

The native 4K sensors allow for flawless capture of UHD 3840x2160 video.

The expanded spectral range with a new prism design and high-performance sensors enables a full wide colour gamut BT.2020.

The dual 4K and HDTV workflow supports separate controls for three types of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), maximising production versatility and efficiency.

The SK-UHD7000 is ideal for a wide range of applications: from broadcasters archiving their productions to live production companies seeking to offer the highest quality to their clients.

Digital Processing

Digital signal processing in the SK-UHD7000 occurs in the Ultra-scale multiprocessor system on a chip.

This new DSP is a step forward and offers many capabilities.

SDP devices provide 64-bit processor scalability by combining real-time control with soft and hard engines for video and packet processing.

It offers next-generation programmable engines, security, reliability, and scalability from 32 to 64 bits.

Fibre Optic Transmission

Having (3) RGB sensors producing full and uncompressed UHD requires 12Gbps of optical bandwidth.

The SK-UHD7000 supports 12Gbps input and output (Rx & Tx) using standard SMPTE 311M hybrid fibre optic cables for connection between the camera head and the control unit.

 KokusaiOutput

12G outputs on the camera head

From the camera head, 2x switchable 12G Full 4K/HD-SDI signals are available for stand-alone and wireless 4K and 2K operations, a 1080p-3G IN Trunk AUX video that can also be used for HD-SDI PROMPTER, and an additional PROMPTER VBS available as standard.

2 independent return channels

Two separate return lines are available for the cameraman's viewfinder (x4) and for scene monitors (x2). The SK-HD7000 with new-generation Global Shutter image sensors and integrated low-pass filter (LPF) can easily adapt to a wide range of difficult LED lighting conditions.

No image skew, no flash, no jitter, and no banding scan effect, as well as no visible moiré on the image.

CU-UHD7000 camera control unit for SK-UHD7000 with optional CU7K interface card. Support for Media over IP, SMPTE-ST2110 up to 12G-SDI and JPEG-XS (encoding or decoding applications) on an integrated 10GbE chip, available for remote live productions.

KokusaiHD6500Z-HD6500

Another flagship model for top-level live HD broadcast TV production is the Z-HD6500 1080p Studio Production Camera with a 4K sensor and BT-220 prism, ensuring crystal-clear images at resolutions up to 1080p/50p/59.94 thanks to its three 2/3" CMOS sensors and the included CU-HD650E camera control unit (CCU).

A global shutter ensures sharp image quality without the "Jello" effect typical of rolling shutters and supports HDR, HLG, and both SD and HD video resolutions.

Features include an integrated optical ND filter wheel, servo control, HDR and HLG support, 1000 TVL resolution, 3G-SDI I/O, high sensitivity, a selectable gamma table, and more.

The B4 bayonet lens mount accepts a separately available servo lens. This modular camera is housed in a lightweight unibody design, and this package also includes the TA-Z3 tripod plate, the 7" colour studio viewfinder HDF-700H-S2, the studio viewfinder support HK-700-S2, and the compact remote control RU-1500JY-S3.
