NETIA CMS Facilitates Comprehensive Media Asset Management and Streamlines Workflows for Highly Efficient Multiplatform Content Delivery
CLARET, France — Sept. 2, 2010 — NETIA today is releasing details about its new NETIA CMS that will be introduced at IBC2010. The comprehensive content management system is a powerful, integrated suite of media asset management solutions that together enable users to streamline all of their production processes.
Through a single customizable Web-based interface, the NETIA CMS facilitates highly automated, easy-to-manage workflows across the production environment, from editing through post and distribution.
Built on NETIA's versatile existing media asset management (MAM) system, the CMS also enables media companies to store, manage, and distribute content to any service provider or multimedia platform.
"In a converged market with more players providing multiplatform delivery of media, success depends on being able to produce, manage, and deliver popular content to multiple outlets efficiently and cost-effectively," said Christophe Carniel, CEO and president of NETIA. "Our new CMS gives broadcasters, telcos, and other media companies a sophisticated solution not only for streamlining and simplifying their production and delivery workflows, but also for managing content throughout these processes."
Within the CMS, a workflow manager automates, choreographs, visually represents, and then executes processes or workflows. A variety of modules provide for ingest and quality control; metadata extraction and tagging; search, browse, and low-resolution proxy generation; integration with key third-party systems including QA, tape/disk-based archive, nonlinear editing, playout, and traffic automation; and multiplatform delivery to mobile TV, VOD/catch-up TV, IPTV, HD, and SD playout automation systems. The Workflow Engine enables system administrators to create and organize media management processes by facilitating and harmonizing exchanges between all existing applications found in a broadcast environment.
The Workflow Editor, also part of the NETIA CMS, provides a schematic representation of tasks that make up the workflow. Users can easily tap into the Workflow Editor library of functionality to build tasks such as transcoding, FTP, audio extraction, speech-to-text, and quality control into the overall workflow. Also central to the system, a media asset management platform interfaces with ingest, production, automation, and storage applications to facilitate automatic ingest of high-resolution media and associated metadata. The software enriches media with supplemental metadata, in turn enabling faster searches and better access to stored content.
Because NETIA has built its CMS interface on Microsoft® Silverlight® technology, users are assured of high performance and high security in managing content and the workflow supporting its delivery. To streamline content delivery itself, the CMS provides tools for content packaging, metadata tagging, and rights management, with workflow supervision guiding these processes. Configurable rules govern the delivery of content to specific service providers and platforms. With a complete suite of tools supporting their workflows from end to end, CMS users are positioned to maximize the value of content more easily and efficiently across a broader range of target platforms.
