Bridge Technologies Products on Display

Bridge Technologies announces several new developments in the award-winning VideoBRIDGE monitoring system — the most sophisticated and easy-to-use monitoring solution for digital TV operators today.

New Products for the 2010 NAB Show:

VB262 — DUAL QAM/8VSB input interface for VB120 or VB220 IP-Probes
Bridge Technologies introduces the VB262 monitoring card for VideoBRIDGE monitoring probes. Providing a powerful real-time QAM/8VSB monitoring and alarm solution ideal for RF/cable/terrestrial/PBS operators in the United States, the VB262 in combination with the VB220 controller is perfect for hybrid networks where IP is used as a carrier from the head-end to the regional edge-multiplexer/modulator/transmitter. The built-in, round-robin functionality allows sequential analysis of multiple QAM or 8VSB multiplexes, making it possible to monitor the total broadcast contents of a cable transmission system using a single VB262. One or two VB262 modules can be specified in a chassis, allowing high density monitoring of up to 180 MPTS/SPTS multicasts in addition to the RF inputs.

The VB262 DUAL QAM/8VSB input option card is the solution for complete monitoring in DVB-C or hybrid DVB-C/IP networks. One VB262 module is capable of demodulating a multiplex for ETSI TR 101 290 fault detection and alarm generation in the full frequency band (44 - 855 MHz).

microVB™ — Cost-effective remote monitoring at the subscriber's premises.
The microVB™ is a breakthrough in miniaturized remote monitoring and analysis for IPTV applications. With the microVB™ system, IPTV operators can, for the first time, gather complete and accurate data about the performance at the viewers' set-top box, using a cost-effective, user-installed monitoring device.

Enabling deep packet inspection without requiring a technician to visit the customer's home to install the device or diagnose problems, the microVB is robust and small enough to be delivered to the customer by mail. Once installed, the microVB automatically locates an appropriate server and starts monitoring the quality of the signal received by the set-top box. The microVB reports the QoE parameters, allowing remote monitoring and analytics for advanced trouble shooting. Potential savings to the IPTV operator in transport and technician costs are significant.

New for 2010, microVB is now available with a traffic module option providing real-time sniffing capability and comprehensive view of traffic, in addition to video at the subscriber premises, to provide remote identification of all types of traffic that may be affecting video service quality.

NEW VideoBRIDGE v4.2 software
NEW VideoBRIDGE v4.2 software release introduces new capabilities for fault-tracking, a revised and improved interface, and increased integration between microVB™ devices deployed at subscriber premises and the server network.

VideoBRIDGE v4.2 software features a streamlined user interface that brings together the major physical functions for ready access and faster fault-finding. Further increasing usability in operation, v4.2 offers extended TR 101 290 analysis capability, and searchable table decoding of all tables that are transmitted with the signal, including channel names, conditional access, and program guide. Users can search by service name or program ID and see all the tables that correspond. Increased MPTS thumbnail functionality and VBC server support for control of the microVB devices add to the integration of VideoBRIDGE's end-to-end monitoring and analysis capability.

New for 2010, the VideoBRIDGE software further increases the outstanding clarity of data presentation for highly effective and easy monitoring of large volumes of data in multichannel installations.

- Ultra-fast searching of data: re-engineered search engine provides near-instant remote searching of data using a comprehensive range of criteria, to provide instant focus on any subset of data required — for example "all regional sports channels at Baltimore headend"

- Further enhanced large thumbnail view for instant visual feedback of service output in monitoring overview displays.

- New graphical alarm view provides instant, easy to monitor overview of alarms from large numbers of channels in ETR 290 view, with color coded severity indication and instant linking into detailed data display for fault analysis and tracking. Up to 120 channels can be viewed per screen with thumbnails and up to 300 in stream view.
