Intel® Xeon® 5600 Series Processor Support
Today SGI also announced full and immediate support of the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series (codenamed "Westmere-EP") across its entire scale-out server lineup, including Altix® ICE, CloudRack™ and Rackable™ servers, SGI® InfiniteStorage servers, Octane™ III and the newly announced Origin® 400.
SGI server systems will benefit from up to 40 percent higher performance per watt and up to a 60 percent increase in overall raw performance. The Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series allows scalability up to 1,056 cores in a single rack with Rackable back-to-back mounted, half-depth servers.
