FTTH Conference 2010 a Lisbona

Thank you for registering for the FTTH Conference 2010 on 24 and 25 February in Lisbon!

Please find below a briefing to assist you with your visit to the FTTH Conference.

Upon arrival at the FIL, you can retrieve your badge and delegate bag at the dedicated “Press & Speakers” section in the registration area.

You will then be escorted to the press office in Pavilion 2 of the FIL, where our press agency representatives Laurence Van Elegem and Ana Velez will assist you with all your needs and questions during the entire conference. You will receive a printed FTTH Council Europe press pack when you arrive and a memory stick with electronic files during the opening press conference (see below).

In the press office you will be able to hold one-on-one interviews, view our exhibitors’ press files, read your documentation or write your texts in all privacy. This room has wireless Internet as well as a wired connection and refreshments will be served all day long. It is located next to our press conference room.

We warmly invite you to join our press tour of the conference grounds with Portuguese Prime Minister Eng. José Socrates at 10.10 on 24 February.

The official opening press conference of the FTTH Council Europe will take place on 24 February at 13.00, at which time the latest European FTTH Rankings (countries with highest FTTH penetration) will be announced in all exclusivity (with supporting PPT and excel files on the aforementioned USB-sticks). We suggest that you attend the meet and greet session after the opening press conference on 24 February for some quality time with FTTH Council Europe executives (Karel Helsen, President and Hartwig Tauber, Director General), keynote speaker and popular author of Socialnomics Erik Qualman and Roland Montagne, Director Telecoms Business Unit and Head of Broadband/FTTH Practice at IDATE.

Some exhibitors of the FTTH Conference are organising their private press conferences as well, as you can see in the media program below.

There will be a permanent copywriter at the conference who will report about a maximum of sessions and post these newsflashes in near real-time on the conference website.

Two professional photographers will also take pictures during the entire conference, which will also be posted on the website in the days following the event. They will also report twice a day to the press office, so that you can retrieve a few photographs on your USB-stick.

For your convenience, a non-stop buffet with drinks, sandwiches and snacks will be at your disposal in the exhibition hall, so that you can enjoy some refreshments outside usual meal times.

Please find below the media programme of the FTTH Council Europe and its exhibitors, for a full conference program – including lunch and coffee break opportunities - please click here.

ABSTRACTS FTTH CONFERENCE EXHIBITORS

Iskratel reveals its next-generation access portfolio, optimized for open broadband access.

The Lumia fibre access platform revolutionizes the service delivery by introducing service-flow awareness in accordance with the patented ISA architecture. The ISA dramatically reduces operator's TCO by eliminating the need for an expensive IP edge device, while flow awareness enables the Lumia to deliver quality on demand. The customers freely select services using the Service-Selection Platform, improving their experience whilst decreasing the operator's OPEX. Undoubtedly, they use the award-winning Gemini40F fibre-termination device that has all that carriers want: great service flexibility and the lowest power consumption in its class.

EUROCITIES statement on urban Broadband strategy

Broadband has an essential role to play in stimulating growth and well-being by fostering greater integration of policies and actions as a cross-sectoral tool, and by making a substantial contribution to a more sustainable future. Within our knowledge economy, a capable and future-proof communication infrastructure is already crucial to a city¹s economic success and will be even more so in the coming decades.

EUROCITIES as the network of major European cities makes the case for the role broadband can play in supporting cities to drive a European economy that is sustainable, inclusive and globally competitive. On the other hand we illustrate how cities can speed up roll-out of fiber the future proof infrastructure in European and national frameworks.

By illustrating the transversal role of broadband in tackling the sustainability challenges we face on the ground in our cities, we provide a very practical application of this. The roll-out of broadband can no longer be an end in itself. It will have a major impact across all aspects of city life and we believe it should be considered a long-term, strategic decision to create digital economies that are competitive, sustainable and inclusive.
