Portugal joins the ranks of leading FTTH economies
Preliminary data from the FTTH Council Europe's market panorama shows that Portugal has made an unprecedented rapid entry to the FTTH Global Rankings, meaning more than 1 percent of homes are now connected with fibre. The number of fibre subscribers in Portugal increased from 14,500 in December 2008 to 41,500 in December 2009. Which other countries will join the rankings this year? Last call to register for the FTTH Conference 2010
The FTTH Council Europe welcomes journalists to its annual conference FREE of charge. This year's event is expected to be bigger than ever before, with around 3000 delegates, nearly 100 top-tier exhibitors from all over the world and over 80 high quality presentations and case studies from renowned industry speakers. The keynote speakers from the FTTH Conference will be available for one-on-one interviews during the first day of the conference.

Plenary session will focus on high-bandwidth services
What could you do with unlimited high-speed Internet connectivity? The plenary session will answer this question from the point of view of global service companies that have already developed services that would benefit from fibre's unlimited bandwidth. The speaker line up includes John Post, Chief Technology Officer at IBM Benelux, who will describe IBM's vision for a smarter home enabled by fibre and cloud technology, and Knut Aasrud, General Manager in Microsoft Communications Sector EMEA, talking on the subject of software and services in a world of unlimited connectivity.
