Broadpeak to Introduce Mediator 3.0 CDN Management Platform at Broadband World Forum
CESSON-SÉVIGNÉ, France — Oct. 2010 — Broadpeak, the recent Technicolor spinoff that provides content delivery networks (CDN) and video-on-demand (VoD) servers for cable, IPTV, and hybrid TV operators worldwide, today announced that it will be introducing Mediator 3.0, the newest version of its Mediator CDN management platform, at the Broadband World Forum, to be held at CNIT La Defense in Paris on Oct. 26 – 28, 2010. Broadpeak will be exhibiting in stand H13.
The scalable Broadpeak Mediator system enables network service providers to deliver content efficiently to multiple screens over any type of network by using intelligent popularity management to optimize system storage capacity and system load balancing to ensure high-performance. Version 3.0 offers a series of advancements to the platform that enable significant flexibility for wholesalers or resellers of bandwidth, support for the latest web content playout applications, and advanced audience intelligence.
"The advancements we're introducing for Mediator, particularly the ability to use our platform to enable an entirely new relationship between operator and content provider, is a direct response to customer demand," said Jacques Le Mancq, Broadpeak's president and CEO. "We're enabling operators to introduce new media delivery options to their customers — and secure new revenue streams."
Mediator 3.0 includes an advanced feature set for the wholesaling of bandwidth, including the ability to track system usage per service, per provider, or per reseller. This enables a traditional operator, such as a cable provider or a telco operator, to provide a wholesale service to a content provider (studio, cable network, etc.) for distribution of its content, via IP or through the Internet, making new content consumption models possible. A reseller can also now use Mediator 3.0 to wholesale network bandwidth to content providers.
"Cord cutting and over-the-top delivery are big buzz words in our space right now," Le Mancq continued. "This technology allows operators to seize control of their relationship with content providers by offering novel approaches to their relationship with viewers."
The latest release of Mediator also features simultaneous support for Microsoft® Silverlight™ VoD and WebTV as well as Adobe® Flash®, providing the convenience of delivering web content using the most popular content delivery platforms without multiple configurations.
Advanced audience statistics have also been added to Mediator 3.0, enabling operators and network service providers to view network usage per content provider, country, or point-of-presence, giving them a complete and real-time view of network traffic and activity.
