Teleriviera and Antenna 3 (7th October 2013)
The switch-off transition (July 2012) from analogic to digital terrestrial transmissions was a rather troubled process in Italy. Still some (some say many) issues are to be solved. For instance the Ministry of Communications allowed two regional tv stations operating on the same basin - specifically in the area of Massa and Carrara provinces - the use of the same frequency!
This is evidently a practice to be avoided as the type of propagation (SFN) makes transmissions incompatible and the obvious result is the mutual cancellation of both signals.
At the heart of the matter, Teleriviera, covering five provinces, La Spezia, Massa, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno, based in Massa and Channel 21 simultaneously granted to Antenna 3, also in Massa.
After countless attorneys' requests the Ministry did not respond.
This happened in early 2012 except that, given the continuing inability to convey much of the territory, Teleriviera decided to take personally legal action against the broadcaster Antenna 3 that had created the problem, although innocent, as officially authorized to operate on channels indicted.
The judge then ordered to "remove " these interferences, so in practice to turn off materially the repeaters object of contention.
The indicted plants were three, the first deactivated by Antenna 3 that subsequently resumed broadcasts on Channel 7 on an experimental basis.
For the other channel, broadcast by transmitters and Tombara Saint Lucia di Carrara that interfered both, it was decided to turn it off the first (May 29, 2013) and to reduce the power of the second.
Meanwhile Teleriviera had to interrupt the broadcast May 31 2011, without closing the station, but reporting a loss in advertising of pre than 80K euros.
The editor of Teleriviera, Giuseppe Annunziata tells us: "After an expensive inactivity year I now finally find myself in a position to broadcast again and we started reorganizing all the programming.
Our Teleriviera today continues to operate with the usual frequencies on Channel 39 and then for Massa, Carrara and Lunigiana it is used channel 25, carried by Tele Liguria Sud.
We are now trying to interest a much broader target audience and take sports very seriously at all levels. For instance we are following the local football team Massese, the regional cycling races, the hockey, given that there are three important realities here, the Viareggio, the Forte dei Marmi and the Sarzana teams.
We've changed the whole structure of information, experimenting with success - instead of the traditional newscast with the speaker - a sort of container that we have called "Rubricando" with many shots of local events and sports glued without a presenter with many graphics inserts. After re-start, although we are still in the experimental stage, at the moment we cover six hours of original broadcasts per day repeated on a 4 times slot per day. Our most followed sports program is called "La Massese nel cuore" with emphasis on the football team Massa, in the presence of guests and style of the talk show. The Tv station covers an area of 400 square meters divided into several areas: editorial, administrative and commercial offices, reception, shooting studio 1 of 43 sqm, Studio 2 of 120 sqm, Main control room and play out, Archives, and warehouse.
The editorial staff is equipped with 4 PCs connected to the 3G network with FTP access, and three dedicated phone lines.
The ENG troupes use a Sony DSR300 DVCAM, a Sony DVCAM 1000, GoPro black editions, three Panasonic AG- HPX250 P2, a Panasonic AG-HPX500 with wide-angle optics broadcast recording P2 format, a Panasonic P2 AJ- HPM200 memory card reader portable recorder, a P2 card reader and a Panasonic AJ- PCD2G. The equipments also include two Cartoni Gamma tripods, two C20 three Sachtler tripod and a Manfrotto tripod.
And also Five Kit radio microphones by Sennheiser, EK 500 G2 with possibilities to vary between hand held or clip MK40, plus Five- wired microphones Sennheiser E840.
