The cost of television rights for the Olympics has increased by 2 thousand times since the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 to the latest edition of London 2012, from almost 948,000 to about € 1.9 billion. It is one of the data contained within the research market television rights of major sports events: "Present FTA, future scrambled", created by the Master's degree in Sport Management, Marketing and Sociology (Faculty of Sociology, University of Milan Bicocca) headed by Prof. Franco B. Ascani.
In the world operate 1,133 television channels dedicated to sport: Italy is in fourth place with 37 stations, after France (40). United Kingdom (98) United States (126). Considering football, revenues are primarily derived from the series A sale of television rights, equal to 66% of the total. From Championship 1995/1996, the incidence of TV rights sales of Series A increased from 23% (104 million euro) to 66% (972 million) compared with 12% of revenues from the stadiums, and 22% from commercial revenues. Only in France, in the Ligue 1, the television rights have an impact on sales so high, amounting to 71%, compared with 55% of the Premer League, 48% of La Liga and only 31% of the German Bundesliga.
ACCOUNTING RAI
A new start from last December by Sipra (Italian public broadcaster advertising seller) with Fabrizio Piscopo, the new general manager of Sipra, the advertising rising dept of Rai. A role at least complex and difficult, given the results of that collection Mr. Piscopo goes to "inherit": 559 million euro in the first nine months of 2012, compared to the same period in 2011, that is less 114 milioni (only specialized channels and web have increased by 6 million). And for the next year Sipra may not be able to count on some big sporting events. Grand Prix Formula 1, for which Sky has exclusive rights for the next season. The negotiation (pay TV must yield to an FTA channel nine races live and 11 delayed) would be at a standstill because of the accounts RAI: losses in the first nine months of 2012 amounted to 184.5 million euro, a decrease compared to the same period of 2011 and despite the reduction in costs of 82 million (the cost of the work is, however, increased by 7 million). The decline in advertising revenues is reflected in: 2, 03 million less than in 2011.
Sky "turns on" the F1 in HD
Sky Sports is warming the engines for the new Formula 1 World Championship announced the debut of the channel Sky Sports F1 HD. Broadcast 24/7, will offer live and in HD all 19 Grand Prix, 10 of which are exclusive and 9 in conjunction with a free-to-air network that will broadcast the other with a delay of a few hours. Thanks to the agreement with Formula One Management (FOM) which allowed Italy to get Sky TV rights of the FIA World Rally Championship Formula 1 in 2013, in March, Sky Sports F1 HD will provide live coverage total, exclusive and in HD, the 19 Grand Prix free practice, qualifications but also interviews, comments, headings, the history of F1, his racing's most beautiful, the most famous players. Over 1000 hours of live with commentary by a team of experienced, well-known faces among the public and the support of interactive mosaic. The coverage will be extended every day, even on Sky Sport 24 HD, the all-news network Sky sports.

Besides in 2014, the supply of Sky will be expanded further with the television rights of the FIM MotoGP World Championship, thanks to an agreement with Dorna Sports, the organizers of the championship from the 2014 season will enable Sky to broadcast all 18 races of classes MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3.
