On September 3rd, at the Artemio Franchi stadium in Florence, Italy challenges Malta football team. RAI, the Italian public broadcaster, follows the game as the host broadcaster. The event is part of the series of matches for useful qualification in European Football Championship 2016 in France and is produced by RAI for the UEFA distributing a tv signal to rights holders international broadcasters.
The match is shot with 14 cameras by director Vincenzo Belli, within moving track of 18 meters owned by Rai, "External HD 1 Milan".
This produces a signal in 16/9 HD, clean feed, which is delivered to the uplink station for UEFA who then conveys it to the international diffusion.
The 14 Grass Valley LDK 8000 series cameras follow a positioning according to a fairly standard layout:
the first is the main camera following the game in its entirety of the action. The second deals with the close ups.
The 3 is placed along the line of 16 meters on the left.
The 4 is similar to 3 but mirroring from 16 meters on the right.
The first 4 cameras are in the stands at the top.
The fifth, from a low position on the halfway line on the left, captures the details and close up Pitch level.
The 6 is the camera that takes the back goal on the left (behind goal Pitch level left).
The 7 is the one shooting from the back goal on the right (behind goal Pitch level right).
The 8 is in front of 5 and placed on the half-way line on the right (Pitch level reverse angle).
The 9 is placed on a 9 meters jimmy jib dolly behind goals left.
The 10 is positioned very high up in the stands, behind goals right; it covers shooting of the opposing team.
The 11 is a shoulder camera that along with the 11B performs pre-match interviews and is also used in the "multilateral" by international broadcasters (Pre multi interviews) (Post multi flash interviews).
The 12 is a shoulder camera equipped with a radio link by Thomson located on a steadicam.
The 13 deals with the lockers access tunnel.
And 14 is an ENG camera engaged in the lockers with the arrival of the players.
The two back goal cameras are Super Slomo LDK SportCam, although in total are 4 cameras for high quality replay, with a Super Slomo LDK 8300 and the fourth is a Hypermotion by Imovix.
The mobile vehicle main studio hosts two EVS XT2, two Tricam of BLT 2U who take care of all the replays and slow motion.
The main video Mixer is a Sony MVS8000 plus a Dve 4 channel Sony MVE8000.
A second vehicle by RAI, RVM4, is devoted entirely to RVM and in total with 3 more EVS XT2.
The mobile truck Milano1HD is particularly versatile because besides creating the clean feed at the same time it also produces a feed of customization for RAI Sport.
On board we find, in fact, a second video mixer Sony. Customization integrates the signals of 4 other cameras Grass Valley LDK 8000 series.
The international feed is 5.1 audio, while Rai Sport has a stereo audio. Plus a comment in Italian.
A satellite uplink signal is for UEFA and includes graphics.
Instead, graphic personalization of Rai Sport is inserted in Rome.
All the graphics for both the international feed and Rai Sport feed are created by Unidea.
Some reporter areas are assembled on field, at goal side on the left, with a proper journalistic miny study with special sets.
The main study is called "Pitch View study" and deals with the main conduction overseeing all the other journalists booths, along the sideline, one inside the lockers, to interview players after the match, and a mic area which intercepts the players out to the bus for the return.
