Italian pay tv SKY Italia gained another very tasty exclusive that sums up to the already very rich live sports offer: they acquired the tv rights of World Championship FIA Formula 1 starting from the next season and for all media involved in the offer, including Internet, on mobile devices and Sky Go (a mobile service on tablets). Following the agreement signed with Formula Uno Management (FOM) starting from March 2013, SKY Italy will broadcast all live races in High Definition, while a free view national tv channel, agreed between FOM and SKY, will propose 9 GP live and 11 pre-recorded on the hypothesis of a 20 races season).
SKY will also allow their subscribers to personalize their vision thanks to interactivity and to follow the races also while traveling on PC and tablets thanks to Sky Go. Sky Italia's AD Andrea Zappia, officially declared that “Thanks to this agreement with FOM we are proud being in a position to offer our subscribers the Formula 1 show too, widening the already rich sports offer, just made richer for the acquisition also of Moto GP. Such investments witness our will to confirm ourselves leaders in Italian tv market.”
TV rights — MotoGP on SKY from 2014
By this way, thanks to a recent agreement with Dorna Sports, the company organizing the motorcycle Championship, SKY Italy acquired the TV rights FIM MotoGP World Championship (Mo-toGP, Moto2, Moto3) starting from season 2014 for all media involved, and technological offers, that is free tv, pay-tv, Internet, Mobile and Sky Go on tablets and PCs.
Motomondiale, and in particular the MotoGP races, are definitely very appreciated and popular sports events in Italy. From 2014, SKY will enrich the way such sport is dealt with, broadcasting in HD, offering the subscribers the chance to personalize their vision thanks to interactivity and to follow their favorite champions “nomadicly” on Sky Go service.
The agreement with Dorna also entitles Sky to make the free view for 8 of such events available with MotoGP.
2013 season, instead, will be broadcast in free view from Mediaset (Italia 1). The new agreement follows the purchase of tv rights for 4 editions of the Olympic Games, (Vancouver 2010, London 2012, Sochi 2014 and Rio De Janeiro 2016), of the Fifa World Cup to be held in Brazil in 2014, and in June 2013 the Confederations Cup, and the rights of the Champions League starting from next season, with 128 live exclusive matches in HD.
Lazio Style Channel on Sky
Lazio Style Channel, the first thematic channel for Lazio Football Club, debuted on 2nd September on SKY Italian satellite platform - channel 233. Lazio football team fans will be able to experience all emotions of “biancoceleste” (white and light blue) season, plus a daily press review and two editions of the main news bulletin “telegiornale”. And again, daily programs, exclusive interviews, training images live from Formello, and press conferences the day before matches of the Championship of Europa League and Coppa Italia. There will also be live pre-matches with on field cameras before the starting whistle and post matches with protagonists' voices, live again. Subscription will cost 8,80 per month or 4 euro in “try & buy” mode: try the channel one week and then decide.
