From Andria, in the South of Italy a network of web portals with A/V tv content and dedicated texts is springing.
Devoted mainly to local news and sports, the new creature of editor Dr. Giuseppe Inchingolo (former editor of Viva Sveva) is operating from digital terrestrial channel 190, while the new site is at http://andria.news24.city .
The website was officially launched on February 1, 2016 and here are several news stories plus a video box embedded in Livestream from where the live event streams are transmitted.
All these flows are created and managed with a lot of graphics, DVE, etc via production suite Livestream HD 550. Journalists on field transmit live a coverage to the HD 550 using Broadcaster (see diagram for football, from several stadiums).
The adventure begins with the purchase of a mixer and production HD550 suite by Livestream. This allows to accomplish many things, which are just as typical basic features for television.
We talk about live mixing between different input signals, each coming from a soccer field to be played by the media player and streamed (or recorded) by adding graphics.
This production suite is physically located in a tv studio within the tv centre. Journalists are sent to some football fields and use a single camera with a single attached encoder "Broadcaster" always by Livestream. So the studio receives several streams that are produced by the Broadcaster encoder on field in H.264 / AAC format, a stream of 1080p at 5Mbps. The encoder accepts full-size HDMI input, audio line input and even a microphone.
In the tv studio the director receives a live mosaic made up of what happens in the various playing fields, plus various information. Obviously a studio comment can be added with a presenter, facilitating the incoming feeds and stories from the various sports fields.
The concept is simple, we can create a production center within the studio with some streams coming from the places of interest (any) and select them according to what the announcer asks. And then everything is always played out by Livestream.
Andria News 24 City is at the moment sending just one single camera per stadium with one operator but it is possible to have more tv cameras on field. From there a H264 stream is sent through the Broadcaster encoder, a small red little box that is mounted directly above the camera. This connects to the network via Wi-Fi or via Ethernet cable or 3G and 4G usb keys and A/V data travel over cellular networks.
In practice, Andria News 24 oversees a number of venues or points of interest with a single camera, but the system can also work as a multi-production suite just with a small video mixer on location.
In this case the production suite might stand directly in the venue and create the multi camera mix to be sent from the field to the studio which can receive more signals. The delivery of datas can take advantage of the free CDN by Livestream for contribution, while for distribution the publisher in this case used a paid channel with "premium membership", so it is the signal can be embedded in their website.
Livestream 550 provides standard 5 cards input with SDI or HDMI; the incoming streams are decoded and all the work is done in H264. The suite has various functions, mixer, with program, preview, 4 inputs separate recording, on a hard disk; it has two media players, so it can broadcast two simultaneous clips; it has multiview outputs and the encoder is on board, so that we can start direct streaming. Moreover, the system imports social contents, such as Twitter, and in terms of graphics, through layers in Photoshop style, we can insert animated graphics, Png file sequences or create picture-in-picture within the same image.
Livestream HD550 is available with 4 different types of subscriptions that give two different levels of service, a base one, in which the customer can not embed the player into other websites: you can only see the content within Livestream.com and there is no chat. Or chosing a premium subscription you can embed the player into any website.
Andria News 24 City here used a Livestream free subscription with the offered CDN service to pick up the streams from the field and receive them in the studio decoded via HD 550.
