BLT is an italian company based in Lido di Camaiore, near Viareggio, along the beautiful Tuscany Riviera, few miles away from historical towns like Pistoia and Lucca.
This company boasts half century of activity in the television industry, and it's a family business traditionally owned by the Bartelletti family.
Nowadays is a renowned reference especially in the italian market as per Video Servers destined to the professional broadcast industry, distinguished in particular in sports live production events and on ob-vans in particular.
BLT equipments and softwares suites are considered powerful tools which become central during several important sports events like soccer matches, ski, tennis, car races, bicycle races and wherever some special features are crucial.
The company develops not many products and actually their portfolio is centered on a 8 channel Video Server (SMS-4U) meant for simultaneous recording and playback, endless recording with loop, Super Slow Motion. All features spring from great reliability meant for high-end professional and broadcast use.
Among the many costumers BLT is proud to list primary importance TV companies worldwide and the Italian state broadcaster RAI. These servers are installed in the main broadcasting facilities and production centers scattered all over the globe.
One of the most important breakthroughs signed by BLT is a new system called RUS-TAB by which any tv conductor or journalist may live control all BLT servers. The main functions and controls provided are jog-shuttle, real time zoom, the insertion and management of graphic elements.
BLT introduces this new system of theirs as "a new use of tablets within the live sports broadcasts". The complete control of the video server which handles all clips live airing or the selected video content is now manageable from a simple tablet interfaced via Wi-Fi o cable ethernet. BLT also declares its new system as "the world first with integrated TeleStrator functions".
Up to today such functions were performed by a dedicated operator triggered or requested in voice by the anchor man or live conductor. Any single action was to be requested in voice.
On the contrary, now using BLT RUS-TAB the journalist during a live broadcast may operate directly on the on-air video server by means of a standard tablet pc and touch screen interface.
No need to learn specific functions and all gestures are the typical of any tablet or smartphone.
All video archives are revisable, you may define a new clip, start a live reproduction, trigger play and forward speed, effect slow motion, play frame by frame video, stop reproduction exactly on the frame requested to comment it on the spot even with public and guests in the studio.
The conductor may freely walk along the studio floor with his tablet, give it to a guest to collect comments, and ask anybody to personally insert graphic inserts as normally possible on any tablet; just one finger on the screen is necessary.
It is also possible to effect a pinch-to-zoom to instantaneously determine the equivalent effect on the live material aired.
RUS-TAB plays on the tablet screen the result of the action performed so that any further comment is based on a previous action while all live airing is totally devoted to the video server which can also effect a full HD image fluid zoom. All is effected in full speed and quality, no external rendering stations are necessary.
RUS-TAB is based on the intuitive standard tablet touch interface so it's plenty of fun for anyone even a non specialized operator may use it, for example a judge or anyone from the public.
Simple and effective this interface can be also used in offline mode so any operator is free to perform other functions in complex working conditions like in ob-vans.
The system is based a Video Server BLT SMS U-series, the control panel il RUS-Color and the new touch screen tablet RUS-TAB.
