Our customers are top priority and the rest comes naturally.
TAG Video Systems, distributed and followed in Italy by CVE Communication Video Engineering, presented its first IP solution in 2008 and today supports over 100,000 probing / monitoring points in the four main broadcast applications: live production, playout, distribution and OTT, operating 100% SW, 100% IP, 100% COTS.
TAG identifies itself in complete and ready-to-use solutions that solve problems from the user's point of view and integrate seamlessly with other technologies, through open APIs.
Zer0 Friction takes technology to the next level.
Taking advantage of TAG's unique ability to handle compressed and uncompressed formats, all major industry standards such as SMPTE 2110, 2022-6 / 7, JPEG 2000, MPEG TS, DASH, HLS are supported.
Zer0 Friction offers customers the operational agility to manage software in all applications and locations, thus maximizing the use of resources.
In live Broadcast
Even in live production CVE proposes TAG and the Zer0 Friction philosophy precisely because among all the applications none is more demanding from a technical and operational point of view than live production.
The typical live production workflow involves a combination of local sources and external feeds arriving via satellite or fiber.
In most cases, feeds are decoded on baseband (uncompressed), but in some remote production applications some feeds arrive J2K-encoded (compressed) and remain compressed within the production facility.
In a typical production flow there are several areas and workstations where cameras, feeds, replays and other production elements are monitored.
Each workstation is equipped with a monitor wall made up of several displays, each of which shows a mosaic made up of several video sources, clocks, timers, UMDs.
The multiviewer receives all signals and creates outputs to power the monitors.
UHD Multiviewer
TAG supports UHD and HD inputs and performs high quality scaling to produce UHD mosaic output with the highest image quality.
The huge number of uncompressed inputs and outputs within a live production requires very high bandwidth to allow the multiviewer to independently manage the necessary screens.
Everything has to integrate seamlessly with the control systems and Tally to handle the dynamic nature of a typical live production.
Latency is the rate at which data must be processed in the multiviewer to provide the necessary control in live production.
Scalability and low latency must be achieved without compromising image quality when resizing HD and UHD images for multiview display.
The latency offered by TAG is 1.5 frames in uncompressed signals.
In the past, the only option to handle these performance requirements was for the multiviewer to be based on dedicated hardware. TAG is now recognized for being the first company to provide software-based multiple display of compressed and uncompressed video signals.
TAG Video Systems introduced in 2017 a 100% software-based multiview solution for live production applications capable of handling native compressed and uncompressed ST 2110 and ST 2022-6 signals running on servers based on generic COTS hardware.
Later in 2018 TAG added integration with clock / timing control and management systems.
Today TAG has globally deployed thousands of live and playout production channels managing both uncompressed and compressed formats within the same solution.
Infinitely scalable, it allows to manage a virtually unlimited number of inputs and outputs.
Processing requirements are easily defined to calculate the number of COTS servers required for deployment.
TAG's "Zer0 Friction" approach to technology, licensing and business in general meets the needs of broadcasters looking for more efficient ways to produce, distribute and monetize their businesses.
Luca Catalano CEO of CVE confirms:
“For years we have been convinced supporters - and therefore we were among the first - to have supported the trend of relying more and more on IP and COTS based solutions for some specific Broadcast & Media systems.
This prompted CVE to work with TAG and to represent it for Italy several years ago, when TAG was a new brand and a small company in the sector, sure of the pluses that this company was projecting in their solution. In fact, TAG was immediately perceived as an innovative solution that met the requirements that were then future, but which today are at all current.
The list of customers in our markets, i.e. those who have “understood” these precious products in system integration for their plants/systems, proves it. Among them we can mention: SIGE, Primarete, Telespazio, Telecom Italia, 3Zero2 TV, Sky, Dalet, Mediaset”.
