Matrox Solutions for Remote Production, Contribution, IP Conversion, and Advanced AV Transport

MatroxCVE20From “See and Touch” to the CVE Workshop “The Ways for IP”

CVE and Matrox are organising the Open House Days “The Ways for IP”, one in Milan on January 29 and one in Rome on January 30, 2025.

These events are designed to explore the latest innovations ideal for optimising workflows in the broadcast and media sector.

The event, hosted at CVE offices, will be the perfect occasion to explore Matrox’s most advanced solutions, designed to address the daily challenges of broadcasters and content producers.

Here’s a preview of the technologies being demonstrated:

• Encoding and decoding solutions for remote production, contribution, and transport.

• Baseband converters and encoders/decoders compatible with ST 2110/IPMX.

• Advanced IP-to-IP gateway for conversion, processing, and routing of 4K video.

• High-performance 4K KVM extensions over standard 1 GbE networks.

Below is a preview of some concepts that will be expanded during the workshop.

Matrox offers a range of advanced solutions for encoding/decoding, conversion, and KVM extension over IP networks, designed to meet the needs of remote production, contribution, and video transport.

MAtroxEncoderDecoder

Encoding/Decoding for Remote Production, Contribution, and Transport

Remote production (REMI) enables the management of live events from a central location, reducing the need to move personnel and equipment to the field.

Encoders and decoders are crucial for compressing and transmitting high-quality video signals with minimal latency.

For example, the Matrox Monarch EDGE S1 is a bi-directional device that offers secure, low-latency return feeds, improving studio communications and multi-camera, multi-site productions.

ST 2110/IPMX Converters and Encoders/Decoders

The ST 2110 and IPMX standards define protocols for transmitting audio and video signals over IP networks, promoting interoperability between devices from different manufacturers.

Converters and encoders/decoders based on these standards allow the integration of IP signals with traditional interfaces such as HDMI or SDI.

The Matrox ConvertIP series offers devices that convert SMPTE 2110 and IPMX signals to and from HDMI, HDBaseT™ or SDI, supporting both compressed and uncompressed AV-over-IP signals.

More specifically, the Matrox ConvertIP series includes base converters and ST 2110/IPMX encoders/decoders.

These devices convert SMPTE 2110 and IPMX IP signals to and from HDMI, HDBaseT™ or SDI, supporting both compressed and uncompressed AV-over-IP signals.

Each device can be configured as a transmitter or receiver, handling 4K signals on 1G to 25G networks with zero latency.

MatroxVion

Advanced 4K IP Video Gateway for Conversion, Processing, and Routing

Advanced 4K IP video gateways facilitate the conversion, processing, and routing of video signals over IP networks, supporting high-resolution formats and ensuring low latency.

These devices are essential for managing complex workflows in modern production environments, enabling transcoding and cross-conversion between different IP video formats and codecs.

The Matrox Vion is a compact, multi-channel 4K IP video gateway designed for media conversion and processing. Vion offers flexible routing options, with encoding, decoding, transcoding, and low-latency cross-conversion of IP video formats and codecs such as H.264, HEVC, JPEG XS, and NDI.

MatroxExtio

High-Performance 4K KVM Extension over Standard 1 GbE Networks

4K KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) extenders allow control of computer systems from remote locations, transmitting 4K video signals and peripheral input over standard 1 GbE Ethernet networks.

These devices ensure high performance with minimal latency, facilitating remote access to workstations and servers.

For example, the Matrox Extio 3 series provides secure, high-performance KVM IP extenders, supporting 4Kp60 or quad 1080p60 video, keyboard, mouse, USB 2.0, and audio at low bitrates over standard 1 GbE networks.

The Matrox Extio 3 series offers secure, high-performance KVM IP extenders, supporting 4Kp60 or quad 1080p60 video, keyboard, mouse, USB 2.0, and audio at low bitrates over standard 1 GbE networks.

These devices are easy to configure and can operate in point-to-point mode or as network KVM extenders, transmitting multiple signals using a single fibre-optic or copper cable.
